Pro Bono Client Walk Out of Prison

Clint Broden began working pro bono on the case of Michael Arena in January 2006.

Finally, after countless hearings and the Texas Supreme Court’s first decision in a juvenile habeas case, Michael walked out of prison at approximately 5:25 pm on June 1, 2012.  He was sent to prison in October 1999.  In 1999 gas prices were approximately $1.17 per gallon, Bill Clinton was still president, most people did not have mobile phones, the internet was just becoming widely used and people were in the movies seeing “Saving Private Ryan.”  Click here to see an article covering Michael’s release with pictures of him walking out of the prison and hugging his father.
